The Dulci-Glo Saga - Part 2

edited by Dave Clifford

In the autumn of 1997 another advert appeared in Nonsuch News:-

Banish Aching Wrist Misery

with

AutoHamm

Speed up those reels and stay fresh as a daisy. Play for a whole session without the need for a break*.

Autohamm uses discreet but powerful electric motors held in the palm of the hand to drive your hammers without tiresome muscular effort. Cunningly powered by a simple attachment to your hearing aid, Autohamm plays at a range of speeds:

Largo, Allegro, Presto, Attacco and Couzo**.

Special programmable rhythms include Jig, Reel, Hornpipe, and Random/ Shambolic (suitable for Nonsuch sessions)

Fits all hammer types but optimised for Crocker Icelandic Tulipwood Thwackers (£145 each)

*Subject to batteries and calls of nature

**Couzo requires optional pentiumII processor

Autohamm - available now from all good dulcimarts

It wasn't immediately obvious that this product was from the Dulciglo company. They were covering their backs . Many people were taken in by this, and the previous advert and spent their hard earned cash, sometimes their life-savings, on purchasing what at first light looked like two breakthroughs in dulcimer playing technology. But in this cruel world things are often not what they seem...........
