About Tony
Over the past few years Tony has facilitated mountain dulcimer workshops, in partnership with the Nonsuch Dulcimer Club, in Malvern, Newcastle and Derbyshire.
Tony is particularly interested in helping people discover the possibilities of the dulcimer through playing by ear and developing skills in improvisation, whether that’s in groups or one to one. He has many years experience of teaching and supporting adults in a variety of settings, and in facilitating learning through group work.
For many years Tony worked in mental health and led an improvisational music group for mental health service users, the Music Workshop Project, which won national and international awards. He also ran a Music for Wellbeing group in partnership with Dudley MIND and has a special interest in creativity and wellbeing.
Tony is a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist and dulcimer player, specialising in original indie-folk songs and atmospheric instrumentals. His main practice currently involves workshop facilitation, solo performance and recording to bring his songs and instrumentals to a wider audience and he’s particularly keen to play (and/or teach) in communities where access to original live music may be more difficult.
Tony is based in Worcestershire but is able to travel widely.
