A regular monthly self-help get together for mountain dulcimer. We share tunes and techniques. Beginners are especially welcome, and we do things to suit everyone.

We usually meet on the first Monday of each month. It's during the day to allow those travelling further afield to attend.  This does occasionally vary so please contact Sally Whytehead, 01527 64229 to confirm.

We currently meet on the 2nd Thursday (evening, 7:30pm – 9:45pm) and 4th Saturday (afternoon, 2pm – 4:15pm) of every month. This does occasionally vary so please contact Sally Whytehead, Tel: 07463 268429, to confirm arrangements. We charge £2 per dulcimer player to go towards the room cost.

Nonsuch Online Spring Mountain Dulcimer Workshop Day 6th April 2024

We are excited to offer a combined mountain dulcimer workshop and concert day with with one of our 2024 Annual Weekend Mountain Dulcimer tutors – Karen Mueller.

The day offers a chance to take classes online with a tutor who is coming in person this October to our annual weekend. If you can't attend in October or just want a sneak preview of her classes and her approach, this event gives you the perfect opportunity. And while the classes will provide a firm foundation to some of the things covered in October, they are not a pre-requisite and are designed to complement (not duplicate) our October weekend classes. The cost is £20 per workshop and there are two levels of workshop on offer.

In addition there is an evening concert, open to all, whether or not you attend the workshops. We hope to see you there!

Mountain Dulcimers in Italy

The first-ever Mountain/Appalachian Dulcimer workshop held in Italy, taught by an esteemed American teacher with decades of experience, based in Pennsylvania and in Europe for the first time.

This two-day workshop will be taught in the beautiful olive mill of Roccanegra, Chiusavecchia.

Lessons will be suitable for both BEGINNERS who have never played a mountain dulcimer as well as INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED players who are already familiar with the instrument and would like to hone their skills in this repertoire.

Spring Fling 2024

This is our third year in the big city at the Copthorne Hotel on Newcastle’s happening quayside. As before there are plenty of chances to socialise and jam as well as venture out into this historic city!

We continue to develop the event and this year are delighted to welcome acclaimed musician and educator Alistair Anderson as our North East guest speaker on Thursday, and Hammered Dulcimer player Amanda Lowe to run a range of workshops as part of the Wednesday programme.

This year we include workshops suitable for any instrument, meanwhile we continue with that unique North Eastern flavour. Start learning Geordie now – gan canny!
