Both the Southern and SW Nonsuch groups have successfully held online meet-ups using the Zoom platform. During these sessions, we have a chance to chat, and also to play music by taking it in turns to “lead” the session by playing with one microphone enabled and the rest muted. Everyone joins in together, though we can only hear the leader – it does work, and you can experiment with backups, variations, without anyone hearing you. Different but still fun.
Hilary Davies set up these Zoom sessions to include all Nonsuch members. Many of us have signed on and enjoyed them every week in June. We’ve had over 20 people at most sessions, but still time to chat as well as play music. There’s been a great variety of tunes brought to the session from different players, and Pete Bromwich has now enhanced his Dulcimer Heaven website to post the tunes, and lists of what we have played. Geoff Reeve-Black has written and posted MD tab as fast as is possible – thank you to both!!
To join in any of these meetings, please email Hilary Davies and she will send you the link, meeting id and password, plus helpful tips about how to participate if you have not used Zoom before.
From July on, the Nonsuch sessions will be every other week – on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.
- Thursday, 21st January – 3:00 – 5:00 pm
- Thursday, 4th February – 3:00 – 5:00 pm
- Thursday, 18th February – 3:00 – 5:00 pm
The advice for how to participate in a zoom session is now here.
