Hammered Dulcimer Teacher (Germany)

Carmen studied Hackbrett, Salterio, Trad. German folk music, Zither and elementary music education at the University of Music and performing Arts, Munich, Germany. She graduated with distinction in 2010. She has taught and performed in different ensembles and as a soloist not only in Germany, but in Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Great Britain, Canada and the USA, spending a year in 2011/12 taking part in concerts, festivals, and teaching in the USA & Canada.

She had her orchestra-premiere in autumn 2008 with Marco Hertenstein’s Opera Die verlorenen Gedanken and was invited back to the pit at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Munich, in October 2009. In 2010 she was invited by University of Music, Nürnberg, to perform Georg Ph. Telemann’s Opera Flavius Bertardius on Salterio.

In 2018, Carmen spent time setting up a music participation and concert program for young children – “Bambini Concerts”.

She picked up the Hammered Dulcimer in 2004 in Cork, Ireland, and became an accomplished hammered dulcimer player and teacher.
