In this latest edition – Dulcimer Junction No.20 – we are reminded of master dulcimer maker Stefan Sobell and the quality of his instruments, there are people reaching out and spreading the dulcimer word, news about the Nonsuch Spring Fling – and an interesting link with Harry Styles – and that’s just a brief outline!
This instrument was made from a kit. It has 3 strings per course. The seller carried out minor repairs to it and would like it put it to good use. It is currently set up to play mainly in D/G.
Although it is only a 9/8 range instrument, as it has ‘chessmen’ bridges it could be adapted to East Anglian tuning and so provide a wider range of playing options.

Dulcimer Junction No.17 contains an interesting mix of dulcimer music – used in a variety of settings. There are some tracks from the archives – we visit John Pearse’s Music Room in 1970 – and have a short sample piece of a stage performance which featured Chris Coe – brought to our attention recently, by Vic Gammon.
