Dulcimer Junction Issue 16

Dulcimer Junction No.16 is devoted entirely to the memory and appreciation, of long-time Nonsuch member Chris Coe – who passed away after a long illness on the 20th December 2023. Chris has given so much to the world with her music, her teaching and her boundless love of people – she touched many of our lives – and there are countless people singing, dancing and playing an instrument now because of her influence.

Gillian McCoy

Plays and teaches Mountain dulcimer (based in Reading, Berkshire and Online) with a focus on contemporary music, such as rock and pop with a focus on making songs work that you didn’t think could be played on the instrument

Bill Lloyd

Mountain Dulcimer Teacher (USA/Online) One to One, Group Classes and online. Bill especially likes to teach beginner players and help them find their musical voice.

Shirley Warbrick

Mountain Dulcimer teacher (Cambridge and online). Shirley is a Mountain Dulcimer player and retired teacher. In person or over Zoom, one-to-one or in groups, from complete beginners to intermediate level.

Grahame Hood

Mountain Dulcimer Teacher and Performer (Dover, Kent).
Grahame offers In Person One to One and Group Classes.
Grahame has been playing mountain dulcimer since the late 1970s and has a great deal of teaching and playing experience.
He also plays and teaches guitar, mandolin and ukulele.

Tony Gillam

Tony Gillam

Tony is particularly interested in helping people discover the possibilities of the dulcimer through playing by ear and developing skills in improvisation, whether that’s in groups or one to one. Worcestershire based, but is able to travel widely.

Among the variety of sounds in Dulcimer Junction No.15, you’ll hear players of both kinds of dulcimer – we say farewell to long-time Nonsuch member Lyndsay Porteous who died recently, and remember his contribution to the world of music – we hear about plans to bring mountain dulcimer workshops to northern Italy – there’s music from one of our Nonsuch members, performing on the hallowed stage at The Bridge Folk Club in Newcastle – we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the song ‘Amazing Grace’- oh, and some tunes for you to listen to – and to play along with.

Members will have just received by email (or by post in the next couple of days), a notice of our AGM on 14th October 2023 at 4:30pm UK time, in person or via zoom.
