About Geoffrey Smith and his Music
A unique approach to learning the hammered dulcimer by one of the most acclaimed hammered dulcimer performers and composers in the world.
Hammered dulcimer lessons are provided for beginners to advanced and in all styles of music.
Lessons are conscientiously tailored to what you would personally like to achieve.
During your free introductory lesson I will discuss with you your hopes and aims as a hammered dulcimer player, and consequently a tuition plan will be discussed and mutually agreed. Lessons are formulated to each person’s requirements and musical preferences: whether traditional folk, classical, popular & contemporary song, jazz, improvisation or composition.
The lessons will also uniquely focus on the development of rhythmic ability, dynamics and expressive technique on the hammered dulcimer through learning and using a wide range of percussion rudiments.
I am also a composer, vocalist and drummer and can offer separate tuition in these areas. These subjects can also be taught in combination with hammered dulcimer lessons if desired.
In addition to providing lessons, advice can be provided with regard to buying a hammered dulcimer and accessories including the different designs of hammers that are available.
