Hammered & Mountain Dulcimer Teacher (Cobham, Surrey, Online)

Julie is a professional, energising and creative teacher with experience of many different styles of music and is happy to adapt the content and approach of the lesson so that it is tailored to each individual’s learning styles and specific needs.

Julie teaches both in-person and online. She lives in Cobham, near Guildford. She will travel to students’ houses within around a 30 minute radius.

About Julie

Julie is a fully qualified teacher (PGCE) with over 25 years’ experience.  She has taught maths, music theory and peripatetic music in schools in both the state and private sector, and privately; in the UK and overseas. She teaches all ages and all levels, from children to adults including seniors.

Julie is also a professional musician who has been playing and performing for over 25 years. She is a solo artist on hammered dulcimer, piano and harp, and gives music talks and concerts in a wide variety of settings.

A Nonsuch member since 1996, she has given workshops at various Nonsuch workshop weekends, and participated in the concerts. She is the organiser of the Southern regional group in Surrey.

She is involved in many music ensembles and clubs in a wide variety of settings:-

•  She plays timpani, glockenspiel, percussion and trombone in Cobham Brass Band (2010 – now).
•  She is plays the clarsach harp & is mentor to the National Youth Harp Orchestra of Great Britain (2010 – now).
• She plays the clarsach harp in West Horsley Clarsach Harp Society (2016 – now).
• She plays piano accordion in both the Guildford Accordion Club and the Tillingbourne Accordion Orchestra (2017 – now).
